Happy New Year, It’s 5777

The schnecken always beckon.
The schnecken always beckon.

This Sunday night begins Rosh Hashana, the Jewish New Year. We welcome the year 5777 with gefilte fish and brisket.

In honor of Rosh Hashana, our family is all coming to Key West, where we will be joined by friends for many a festive meal. Gefilte fish, matzo ball soup, my mother’s kreplach, chicken, meatballs, brisket, lamb and more desserts than I can count will grace the table for the festivities. I even bought super fancy, yet disposable plates. (Seriously, with that many people and that much food, we need to be able to have an easy clean up.) While it is not terribly environmentally friendly, it is easy. And so, so pretty.

I’ll share food porn next week, but meanwhile, if you celebrate Rosh Hashana, I wish you a happy and sweet new year filled with health and happiness. If you know someone that celebrates wish them a happy new year. This is a time for celebrating. And lots of eating. Enjoy.
