The day started with an afternoon of pinot noir.
Saturday afternoon of Key West Food and Wine Festival always brings a lot of fun, usually in the form of Duval Uncorked. This year, we started our afternoon at the Santa Barbara Pinot Noir seminar, put on by the folks at Flying Goat Cellars and Riverbench. We smelled dirt. (Yes, actual dirt from the vineyard schlepped here in little tiny jars from California.) We tasted barrel samples and wines from 2010 – 2012. It was perfect for my (not-so) inner wine geek. Yummy wines kick off the festival.
One of my favorite events of the entire year happens each January, the Key West Food and Wine Festival, and this year was no exception. I spent a good deal of time at the Hospitality Suite selling tickets, meeting the festival goers, and of course, drinking wine. (It’s a rough job, I know.) Continue reading Key West Food and Wine Festival 2014, Part I
You know how I love to give you stuff, just because you swing by and read my blog? Well, it’s back!
It is that time of year again. Tickets for Key West’s premier food and wine event are now on sale, and I have good news for you. Say it with me: Discount Code. That is right, the folks at the Key West Food and Wine Festival love Florida Keys Girl readers so much, they have offered up your very own discount code. This is me and FKGuy. We are very fancy.
It is no secret that my favorite Fantasy Fest event is the Masquerade March, and this year proved no different. The theme of Superheroes, Villains and Beyond brought out the wacky, the tacky and of course, the naked. Some people will take any excuse to remove their clothes and prance around the streets. Continue reading Fantasy Fest 2013: The Recap
Yes, I know what you are thinking: Rules? What rules? There are no stinkin’ rules at Fantasy Fest! That’s what makes it so much, er, fun! Well, there are some actual law-type rules, which mainly get ignored. But I am talking more about the common sense type stuff here. I talked about it a couple of years ago, but I think most of these are still valid, so here we go:

One of the great qualities about the people of Key West as a whole, is that they can create an organic event seemingly out of thin air. This is the case of the Zombie Bike Ride. It started a couple of years ago with a group of people dressed as zombies, biking from Stock Island into Key West and down Duval Street. Continue reading Zombie Bike Ride, Fantasy Fest 2013
Fantasy Fest is just around the corner and this year’s theme is Superheroes, Villains and Beyond. In honor of my being proactive and trying to come up with some costume ideas before October 20, I have decided to share with you some decidedly heroic, and evil cocktail recipes.

Lovely evening for a sunset sail!
I have been on a number of sunset sails in Key West, and some are definitely better than others. Most recently, friends encouraged us to join them on the Appledore V. By encouraged, I really mean I got a text that said “I already made a reservation for you. Be there at 5:30.” It is rare that I am not involved in the plan-making process, but was delighted to just show up. Continue reading Appledore V, Sunset Sail, Key West
Key West Food and Wine Festival kick off party
Last night was the kick off of the Key West Food and Wine Festival, and there is no better place to do that than on the sand at the Southernmost Hotel on the Beach. Tables with wine and food are set up as guests mingle and the sun sets. Continue reading It Ends With Grease
I know you have been waiting for these. As usual, it was a crazy time in Key West. Some of these are not for the faint of heart. You have been warned. Enjoy. Continue reading Fantasy Fest 2012: The Photos
