Restaurant Review: Cafe La Buca, Pompano Beach, FL

Tucked into an unassuming strip mall in Pompano Beach is Cafe La Buca, a tiny, 4 table Italian restaurant. It is a really tacky room with bad lighting. They have no liquor license, so it is strictly BYO here, a feature that I appreciate. They also have no menu, rather they make whatever they feel like, and discuss your options with you before ordering. Continue reading Restaurant Review: Cafe La Buca, Pompano Beach, FL

Restaurant Review: Il Mercato, Hallandale, FL

One of my dear readers often complains that of all the fabulous places I eat, not one of them is near his house. This one is for you. Eat My Words

A couple of months ago, I reviewed Abbondanza, on Simonton Street here. The first experience there was delightful. I am sad to report, however, that it seems that was a fluke.

A couple of weeks ago, we visited Abbondanza in hopes of repeating the same good meal we had the first time. Alas, it was not meant . . . → Read More: Eat My Words

Carbs are Good

NOTE: The first good experience at Abbondanza seemed to be a fluke. Read about a return visit here. When I lived in New York, I took Italian food for granted. I just assumed that everywhere I went I could get a decent, if not superb, plate of pasta. The fact that it was all reasonably priced . . . → Read More: Carbs are Good
