We tend to think that when season ends and the snowbirds return to the north that the fun stops in Key West. Well, the snowbirds think that, anyway. The summer in Key West is hot, sometimes rainy and fun-filled.
This month there are a number of fun things coming up, including:
- Pridefest. The celebration of all things Gay, Lesbian and Transgender, complete with drag shows, parties and movies at the Tropic Cinema. Check the website for a complete schedule. The festival is June 8 – 12, 2011
- Key West Bacchanalia. June 9 – 11, 2011. A weekend of food and wine events. check the website for some information. I did try to contact the producers of this event to get more information, but was met with silence. Oh well. If you go, let me know how it is.
- FKCC Swim Around Key West. June 18, 2011. So, you want to swim all the way around the island? If swimming 12.5 miles around Key West is your idea of fun, this is the event for you. You won’t find me swimming, but I’m happy to come cheer you on. Let me know how it goes.
- Swankey Palooza. June 26, 2011. An all-day music fest. More details coming soon!

How about July? I’ll be arriving in the Keys on or about the 9th or 10th
Hmmm… July 4th is always fun, but you’ll miss that… July 14 -17 is Mel Fisher Days, then Hemingway Days (complete with look-a-like contest) and loads of fishing tournaments.
