The Dania Beach pier overlooks a calm, peaceful stretch of beach. Atop the pier sits Quarterdeck restaurant, a casual, neighborhood kind of place. It is a fairly typical menu of sandwiches, salads and seafood, with the addition of sushi and a bar. It was a lovely place to have a lunch meeting recently.
I know there are several other South Florida locations, but it has been years since I have been to any of them. This place is huge, and
has large windows affording most seats a stunning ocean view. That is a lot to get with your burger (or in my case, fish sandwich). Service is friendly and attentive, and better than you might expect at a casual place like this.
The menu is enormous, and there is something for everyone. But, I just couldn’t seem to wrap my head around all of the choices. So, I asked for help, and at the suggestion of our server, I ordered the Tuna Philly. This is like a Philly cheese steak, but with rare seared yellowfin tuna. The sandwich was not at all greasy, and the wasabi sauce gave it a nice zing. It was delicious, and next time I am there, I will likely order it again. The sandwich came with a choice of sides: fries, cole slaw or mac and cheese. Naturally, I opted for the mac and cheese, which although was good, it was not a great version. It did not, however, detract from my yummy sandwich.
My friend had a blackened Mahi Caesar salad. The fish was well seasoned and the salad was fresh. Although, I am a Caesar salad purist and think that a good one should not be mucked up with any extras – just romaine lettuce, cheese and croutons with a good dressing. This one had bacon and possibly some other interloper ingredients.
Overall, this is a good place to have a relaxing lunch on the beach. Quarterdeck is located at Dania Beach Pier, at 300 North Beach Road.
