Sunset Sail Key West: Floridays

Any time spent on the water in the Florida Keys is a good thing, provided you have two things. Good weather and good friends. FKGuy and I came to Key West for the first time on vacation, when we lived in New York, circa 1998. During that trip, we stayed at the Pier House and went on a sunset sail aboard the Floridays

Many years, and many sunset sails later, we once again enjoyed a sunset sail aboard the Floridays last night. I don’t enjoy crowds, so the large catamarans hold no appeal for me. Recently we have enjoyed Danger Charters as well as the Appledore V, because of the smaller crowds. The Floridays takes a maximum of 18 guests, and was nearly full with 17 last night.

The boat is very spacious, with plenty of room to move around throughout the short trip. Crew is exceptionally

is a sunset sail to enjoy the sunset, and we had a beautiful one. Wine, beer and what is billed as “Champagne” but is actually bubbly Yellow Tail, and sodas are all included in the very reasonable $45/person tariff.

While Danger Charters certainly has better wine on their Wind and Wine sailings, and more actual sailing, Floridays offers a low-key, relaxed sunset cruise. And it is a bargain.
