This is the final installment of the Celebrity Reflection Thanksgiving cruise review. It was a fantastic cruise, overall, starting with our suite. I reserved a category S1 Sky Suite, and chose the aft corner of the ship, much like we had on the Solstice in Alaska.
Outside the Florida Keys
Our Celebrity Reflection Thanksgiving cruise had a total of eleven dining venues. Well, ten plus Cafe Al Bacio, where there are complimentary pastries and the Gelateria, for delicious gelato for a charge. As for the others, four are available at no additional fee, but with a caveat. Blu is the […]
Celebrity Reflection is a gorgeous ship, and our week aboard was fantastic. You may have already read about dining in Luminae, and I will focus on the specialty restaurants in the next post, so today’s focus is all about the ship: the bars, lounges, lawn club and other public places.
Once again I found myself in San Juan, with no plan except to indulge in a giant plate of mofongo. The quintessential Puerto Rican dish is made from frying green plantains, then mashing them and frying them again. It is all topped with either chicken, steak, fish or, in the case […]

When I was in high school, my friends and I would take turns walking on each other’s backs. The pressure felt good, even with our perfectly healthy spines. Little did I know then that it would become a thing. Enter Ashiatsu Deep Tissue massage.
Several years ago, friends of ours encouraged us to get a dog. (“Sure, we’ll watch her when you go away!” or “No, house training isn’t hard!“) Enter Babka. We are fortunate to have several friends that will watch her (and were okay with a second dog, too) when we go away. […]
Continuing the theme of doing nice things for other people, I’d like to share a story about shopping in Paris, translating, and graciousness. In June, 2002, FKGuy and I traveled to France with friends. We were really excited about the trip, although less so about traveling on the heels of September 11. […]
FKGuy and I recently traveled to Isla Mujeres, a tiny island off the coast of Cancun, for our anniversary. Why there? First of all, nonstop flights from Fort Lauderdale to Cancun are less than an hour and a half. The resort we chose, Zoetry Villa Rolandi, is small, exclusive and […]
