I had the opportunity to tour the Carnival Imagination on Monday. Why? It is helpful for me, as a travel agent, to see as many ships as possible. After all, I book a whole lot of cruises. Holding over 2,000 passengers, this ship has something for everyone.

We have some very good friends who live on Maryland’s eastern shore. Whenever we are in the D.C. area they always come see us, which results in packing three children in the car and roughly three hours of driving to meet us somewhere the kids are sure to be bored […]
Charming, independently owned restaurants, with good food and service are not abundant in Washington, DC suburbs, particularly Reston. Last weekend, while visiting, we found ourselves at Passionfish in the Reston Town Center. It is part of a mini-chain of various restaurants in the Washington area owned by the same restaurant […]
Nothing says happy birthday like a good breakfast. So, when in Lancaster for a wedding, we were also celebrating my mother-in-law’s birthday and started the day off at Ida’s Cafe. Like my sister-in-law so astutely observed: a restaurant has to be good if they can close by 2 PM.
Last weekend, we went to the wedding of Florida Keys Guy’s first cousin, in Lancaster, PA (which I am apparently still mispronouncing). The wedding was lovely and the bride and groom were both truly happy. Plus, the weather was perfect. I got married on a rainy, miserable Florida day (at […]
We make our way up to the dessert room at Bern’s. To call it a room is a bit of a misnomer. In fact, it is a big space with many individual wooden-enclosed booths, complete with doors. Weird is an understatement. It is, however, unique.
Over the weekend, we went to Tampa to visit some friends and celebrate her 40th birthday, or as she likes to put it: the first anniversary of her 39th birthday. Friday evening was at Sidebern’s, the “creative” restaurant owned by the same people as Bern’s, the steakhouse. The food was […]
When people come to visit us – which is generally every weekend in the winter, and only slightly less frequently in the summer – they often ask what they should do while they are here. I have pointed out the Hemingway House at least 100 times on a map, yet […]
After days of seeing apartment after apartment in crappy walk-ups, mid-range buildings and luxury buildings, all in the same price range, we have a winner. My cousin will be living at The Anthem, a really nice building in the East 30s. It is near his job and he can easily […]
People often say things that sound like a compliment, but really is an insult. “Oh, you cut your hair. It looks SO much better.” Translation: Your hair looked like crap. I’m so glad you did something about it. How about this one: “Oh, those pants are so flattering.” Translation: Normally, […]
