After breaking up with Ambrosia and Kyushu burning down, my sushi-eating life was in a bit of turmoil. I had not been to Origami in years, but feeling the sushi crave, I decided to give it a try.
Set back from the street in Duval Square, Origami is a small, nondescript restaurant. We went on the later side on a Sunday night and the place was nearly empty. We sat at the sushi bar and were warmly greeted. The overall service was friendly and attentive. The menu consists largely of the usual rolls and sushi pieces with some interesting twists thrown in. I was not deterred.
We had an assortment of sushi pieces and rolls. The salmon and hamachi sushi was fresh and tasty, as well as beautifully presented, as one would expect with sushi.
Additionally, we had a couple of rolls. A spicy tuna number topped with more tuna and jalapeno slices proved to be spicy, with a little crunch from the fresh jalapeno. I am already looking forward to going again just to have this roll.
The tempura snapper roll with asparagus was also quite good. the asparagus combined with the tempura batter gave the roll a wonderful texture.
Origami is a good choice for sushi in Key West. The food is fresh and service was good. I am looking forward to many return visits.

Pleasant surprise and was a real good choice after 1/2 marathon day and post-race party.
