Upcoming Events: Cooking Contests, Bordeaux, and a Festival

Email-320x340The next couple of weeks are really busy here. (I say that like it is unusual. OK, so super busy is the norm. At least this is all fun stuff.) Starting this weekend with Last Chef Standing, followed by an evening of Bordeaux and then the Key West Food and Wine Festival. I better rest up.

Last Chef Standing is a five week long cooking competition, sponsored by the Key West Food and Wine Festival, and raising money for

VNA/Hospice. Each week, two chefs battle head to head over a basket of mystery ingredients, while a panel of three judges will decide the outcome. (Guess who is a judge this week… ME!) This Saturday, at 4 PM at Grand Vin on Duval Street the fun will take place.

Next Saturday will be another battle at Bistro Sole, with the finale on January 31st. I cannot wait to see what fun the mystery baskets bring, and what creative dishes are served. For more information on this event, click here. Get your tickets.

Next week, I am doing something highly unusual. I will be going to a hip, Miami Beach nightclub. Why, you may ask? I am not usually a nightclub kind of gal, but I did get tickets to Total Wine’s Super Awesome Bordeaux tasting. Well, it is actually called An Exclusive Bordeaux Event, but I kind of like my name better.  Either way, it is next Thursday, January 22 at Liv Nightclub at the Fountainbleau Hotel. Top Bordeaux producers are flying in for the occasion, and I have heard there are still some tickets available. At $150/person, this is not a cheap event, but it should be a great night of wine. Will I see you there? Get tickets here.

Wrapping up the month will be the Key West Food and Wine Festival. Now in its sixth year, this one should be super, with a host of new events, winemaker dinners (I just bought tickets to the Banfi dinner), parties and more, all in beautiful Key West. Duval Uncorked is more compact, with less schlepping and more wine drinking. The brand new Marker Resort will host the Grand Tasting, and it should be spectacular. If you still need tickets, you can use discount code FKG and save a few dollars on your VIP pass!

I hope to see you at some of these events. If you need more information about any of them, just post a comment below. Cheers!
